General Scholarship Principles
To support students dedicated to the Kingdom of God and to ensure fair and efficient financial administration, Washington Jabez University (WJU) establishes the following scholarship policy.
1. Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of WJU and are subject to available institutional funding, eligibility review, and final approval.
2. A scholarship is not guaranteed unless the student receives an official written scholarship award notice from WJU.
3. Scholarships are normally applied as tuition reductions or institutional awards to the student’s account.
4. Institutional scholarships do not create a cash refund to the student unless specifically approved in writing by WJU or required by applicable law.
5. The total amount of institutional scholarship support applied to a student’s account may not exceed the student’s tuition and approved institutional charges for the applicable semester, unless specifically approved in writing by WJU.
6. Scholarships are not automatically renewed.
Scholarship Types
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for a scholarship, a student must meet the eligibility requirements established by WJU and any specific conditions stated in the scholarship award notice.
In general, scholarship applicants must:
1. Be admitted to or enrolled in an eligible WJU program.
2. Submit a completed scholarship application by the stated deadline, if an application is required.
3. Remain in good academic, financial, and disciplinary standing.
4. Provide truthful and complete information in all scholarship materials.
5. Meet any additional criteria stated in the official scholarship award notice.
Specific GPA, SAP, or academic progress requirements may be determined by WJU’s Academic Achievement Standards or other applicable academic policy when adopted.
General Qualifications and Compliance
To ensure that scholarships align with WJU’s educational and religious objectives, all applicants must also meet the following qualifications:
Alignment with Institutional Values: WJU grants scholarships based on the applicant’s alignment with the institution’s sincerely held beliefs published in the Articles of Faith and adherence to the Student Code of Conduct. The school reserves the right to revoke scholarships from students who violate these standards.
Non-Discrimination Statement: Washington Jabez University does not discriminate based on race, color, or national origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions, and scholarships. However, the University maintains its constitutional and statutory right to act in furtherance of its religious objectives.
Administrative Procedures and Record Keeping
Application: Students seeking scholarship consideration must submit the required scholarship application by the announced deadline, unless WJU determines that a separate application is not required for a particular award.
Review and Approval: Scholarship applications are reviewed by the Chief Financial Officer or another administrator designated by the President/CEO, with consultation from appropriate academic or student-service personnel as needed. Awards are subject to available funding and final written approval by the President/CEO or an authorized institutional officer.
Application to Student Account: Approved scholarships and tuition assistance are normally applied directly to the student’s tuition account or other eligible institutional charges in accordance with the terms of the official award notice.
Withdrawal and Adjustment: If a student withdraws or becomes eligible for a refund, institutional scholarships and tuition assistance may be adjusted before any refund is calculated. Any remaining balance is governed by WJU’s published tuition, refund, and student-account policies.
Record Keeping: Scholarship applications, supporting documents, approvals, award notices, and related student-account records are maintained in authorized University records and protected in accordance with WJU’s records, privacy, and information-security requirements.
External Scholarship Resources
Information Service: To assist students beyond internal funds, WJU actively provides information on regional and external scholarships (e.g., local foundations, denomination grants) via the school website and office notices. Students are encouraged to apply for these external opportunities.

Additional Policies
A. Student Loans: Student loan resources are currently not available for WJU students.
B. Privacy Statement (FERPA): Student financial information is confidential and protected. In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), WJU does not release scholarship records to third parties without the student's written consent, except as required by law or accreditation standards.
