Advanced Arrangement

Analyze, arrange, and compose sophisticated music tailored for diverse church ensembles, orchestras, and bands.

Music Pedagogy

Apply advanced pedagogical methods to teach, direct, and elevate the musical abilities of church volunteers and staff.

Pastoral Leadership

Demonstrate strong spiritual leadership and pastoral care within a professional, high-level music ministry context.

Academic Research

Conduct graduate-level research in musicology or theology, culminating in academic writing and program notes.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted into the Master of Church Music program at Washington Jabez University, Applicants must meet the following spiritual and academic standards to be considered for admission.

Spiritual Qualifications

  • Personal experience of regeneration and water baptism.
  • Confirmed sense of calling to Christian ministry and music.
  • Active involvement in a local church or Christian community.

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Prior musical training or undergraduate coursework in music is highly beneficial.

Application Materials

  • Application form & fee.
  • Official Transcripts & Diploma.
  • Personal Essay detailing spiritual journey and ministry vision.
  • Reference Letters (at least two).
  • One recent digital photograph.
  • One (1) copy of passport and driver's license (for U.S. residents).
  • One (1) copy of passport and resident registration certificate (for Residents Outside the United States).
  • Personal Interview and/or Audition/Portfolio (Depending on the major concentration).

Graduation Requirements

To qualify for the Master of Church Music degree, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Credit Hours: Completion of 38 semester units.
  • GPA Requirement: Maintenance of a minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.8.
  • Residency: Transfer credits must be negotiated and approved by the institution.
  • Graduation Recital / Project: Candidates must successfully complete a Graduation Project Presentation or a Graduation Recital according to their major concentration.
  • Exit Interview: Candidates must complete an exit interview with the faculty.
  • Faculty & Board Approval: Candidates must be approved by the faculty and Board of Trustees, demonstrating spiritual maturity and musical excellence.
  • Clearance: All financial obligations must be cleared, and the graduation fee paid.
